Chief Financial Officer


Job Purpose

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for providing oversight and management of the accounting and finance functions at Coop Hail Insurance.

The ideal Chief Financial Officer requires a proactive and strategic approach to financial management, with a focus on ensuring the company’s long-term financial sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Management

  • Produce and provide analysis of timely and accurate financial statements and program-specific financial reports.
  • Optimize cash management by maintaining banking relationships and ensuring that the organization remains in an appropriate cash in hand position.
  • Manage the annual financial audit to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain applicable internal processes related to vendor management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, government remittances, government reporting.
  • Work closely with the COO, establishing reporting protocols to keep the CEO informed about the organization’s financial sustainability for guidance in decision making.
  • Manage the bi-weekly payroll, including fulfilling year-end government reporting requirements.
  • Comply with requests for audits or information from financial institutions and government departments, subject to receiving the appropriate requisitions.
  • Additional related duties that may be assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or business administration required.
  • Completed CPA designation, or currently enrolled in the CPA program an asset.
  • Successful track record in a financial role for at least 5 years.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP principles and ability to apply them.
  • Prior experience providing financial reports and commentary.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office products including Excel and Word.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Sage 50.
